Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance cooling efficiency of an electrode at a side of a metallurgical vessel of a direct-current arc furnace and the like, eliminate danger of coolant entering the furnace, and make the electrode exchangeable without increasing cost and yet with ease.
CONSTITUTION: An electrode is made of a first bar 21 contacting a molten metal and a second bar 22 projecting out of a furnace, wherein the first and second bars 21 and 22 are detachably connected to each other without deteriorating electric and thermal conductivity therebetween and the second bar comprises therein a cooling medium supply pipe 51 and a cooling medium discharge pipe 53.
