To provide methacrylic resin composite particles which can give a molded article having excellent mechanical strength and transparency.
The methacrylic resin composite particles are characterized by adhering and coagulating layered clay mineral particles to the surfaces of methacrylic resin particles. The content of the layered clay mineral particles is, for example, 1 to 50 pts. mass per 100 pts. mass of the methacrylic resin particles. The method for producing the methacrylic resin composite particles comprises dispersing a methyl methacrylate-based monomer in an aqueous solvent and then polymerizing the dispersed methyl methacrylate-based monomer in the presence of the layered clay mineral particles such as lipophilic layered clay compound particles. The method for producing a methacrylic resin molded article comprises heating and molding the methacrylic resin composite particles at a temperature higher than the melting point of the methacrylic resin particles. The methacrylic resin molded article has excellent mechanical strength.
