Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methane concentrator showing excellent efficiencies in absorbent liquid use and carbon dioxide removal.
SOLUTION: The methane concentrator possesses an absorption part 1, a discharge part 2, an absorbent liquid tank 3, a pump 4 and conduits 5-7. Here, the absorption part 1 has a hollow fiber that contacts the absorbent liquid and supplies a raw material gas containing methane gas and carbon dioxide to the hollow fiber to allow the elution of carbon dioxide from the hollow fiber into the absorbent liquid. The discharge part 2 has a hollow fiber that contacts the absorbent liquid and recovers carbon dioxide present in the absorbent liquid through the hollow fiber. The conduits 5-7 are positioned to allow successive circulation of the absorbent liquid among the absorbent liquid tank 3, the pump 4, the discharge part 2, the absorption part 1 and the absorbent liquid tank 3 in this order. The absorption part 1 and the discharge part 2 are assembled so that the absorbent liquid flows perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the hollow fiber. The apparatus is also equipped with a supply conduit 20 that supplies new absorbent liquid to the absorbent liquid tank 3 and a discharge conduit 21 that discharges the absorbent liquid discharged from the pump 3 out of the circulation system.
