Title:
METHANOL REFORMING CATALYST AND METHANOL REFORMING CATALYST DEVICE USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3624722
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain good durability even under an environment whose temperature changes sharply and a reaction gas of a low by-product content by incorporating copper and zinc as catalytic active components and using a carrier in which cerium (IV) oxide is added to zirconia and titania for a methanol decomposition catalyst.
SOLUTION: Copper and zinc are used as catalytically active components, the metals exist usually in the form of oxides, and the weight ratio based on the oxides between copper and zinc is preferably 1/10-10/1. In a carrier, cerium (IV) oxide is added to zirconia and titania, and preferably these are fine particles of 1-50 μm average particles size. The content of cerium (IV) oxide is preferably at least 5 wt.% of the total weight (100 wt.%) of the carrier. In this way, a methanol reforming catalyst of high activity and high selectivity is obtained. A methanol reforming catalyst device is formed by making the catalyst be supported on a ceramic or metal honeycomb support.
