Abstract:
Substituted benzoyl chlorides are obtained by treating the corresponding benzaldehyde with a chlorinating agent in presence of a radical initiator and a solvent at -20 to +200[deg]C. Substituted benzoyl chlorides of formula (I) are obtained by treating the corresponding benzaldehyde of formula (II) with a chlorinating agent in presence of a radical initiator and a solvent at -20 to +200[deg]C. [Image] R : phenyl (optionally substituted by halogen, -NO2, -CN or 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy), halo, -NO2, -CN, -N(R')2, -OR', -SO2R', -SO2OR', -COR' or -CO2R'; R' : 1-10C alkyl or phenyl, the phenyl being optionally substituted by halo, NO2, CN or 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy; x : 1 or 2; and y : 1-3.
