PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable storage medium of contents display type, for storing and retrieving documents.
SOLUTION: A portable storage medium document card is a transportable unit having; a nonvolatile storage means for storing information in a digital form; a control processor for processing user initiated functions and requests to access documents stored in the document card; an I/O port for interfacing to external devices for reading and writing digital information; and a user interface 601 for allowing the user to directly interact with the document card. The user interface includes; a plurality of traversal keys 606 to 609 for allowing the user to traverse lists of functions and documents; a selection key 610 for allowing the user to select a highlight function or document; a processing means for processing functions invoked by the user; and a display device 603 for displaying lists of functions and documents and information responsive to functions invoked by the user.
