Abstract:

PURPOSE: To safely stick silver to the surface of porous calcium carbonate such as coral sand as a water purifying agent by immersing the calcium carbonate in a silver nitrate soln., dehydrating and heating the calcium carbonate.

CONSTITUTION: Calcium carbonate is immersed in a silver nitrate soln. for a long time, dehydrated and uniformly heated at ≥200°C in the air or in a flow of gaseous nitrogen to stick silver to the surface of the calcium carbonate by reduction.
