PURPOSE: To enble the complete utilization of unreacted methanol and the stable operation of methanol cracking process, by adding unreacted methanol to raw methanol to control the flow rate of the supplied methanol, and controlling the flow rate of water or steam according to the output signal to a moisture meter attached to a specific position.
CONSTITUTION: The raw methanol supplied from the tank 1 is joined to the unreacted methanol supplied from the vapor-liquid separator 15 and the flow rate of the combined flow is controlled by the flow-control valve 5. Separately, the water-content in the methanol-water supplied from the sampling nozzle 7 is analyzed by the moisture meter 7', and the flow rate of water supplied from the fresh water tank 2 is controlled by the moisture controller 8 according to the data of the water-content. The water is introduced together with the supplied methanol into the methanol-water evaporator 11. The evaporated methanol-water is decomposed to a gas composed mainly of H2 and CO in the reactor 12, the gas is cooled with the cooler 14, and the unreacted methanol is separated by the vapor-liquid separator 15. The pressure of the decomposed gas in the reactor 12 and the vapor-liquid separator 15 is controlled to a definite level by the pressure-regulation valve 18 and the decomposed gas is recovered from the decomposed gas exhaustion pipe 22.
