To provide a method for antibacterial treatment simply and inexpensively imparting an antibacterial property with durability manifesting a good antibacterial property for a long time storing or deterging or washing onto a polymeric substance.
The method performs antibacterial treatment by irradiating to the polymeric substance with a radiation. The mechanism expressing antibacterial property by irradiation with the radiation is not cleared but understood that aldehyde group is produced on the polymeric substance by the irradiation with the radiation and the aldehyde group has an antibacterial property. The method is free from impairment of feeling in application to a fiber product or the like as the method does not use a crosslinking agent or binder or the like, and high in safety to the environment and to the human skin.
