Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make the taste of tobacco constant throughout the burning time of the entire tobacco rod by adding an aroma-providing substance to a tobacco rod in such a way that the concn. of the aroma-providing substance in a front end part of the tobacco rod is high and this concn. in a part near to a mouthpiece is low. CONSTITUTION: In this method, at the time of adding an aroma-providing substance, e.g. menthol to a tobacco rod by spraying an alcohol solution of menthol on the tobacco rod, the menthol solution is added to the tobacco rod in such a way that the menthol concn. in a front end part of the tobacco rod is maximum and the menthol concn. is gradually decreased in the direction from the front end toward a mouth piece of the tobacco rod and becomes minimum in a part nearest to the mouthpiece.
