Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance concentration in learning by concealing a caption outputted from a conventional video tape with characters of an on-screen display device(OSD) so as to improve listening capability when a language is learned. CONSTITUTION: Upon the entry of an OSD shadow key through a key entry section 10, a microcomputer 6 discriminates whether a caption is displayed vertically or horizontally. When the caption is displayed vertically, a pointer appears at a vertical start position and when the caption is displayed horizontally, a pointer appears at a horizontal start position. When the OSD shadow key is entered this time, a point key is moved to select a start position and a point storage key is used to store the selected start position and the end point is selected and stored. Then OSD characters entered in advance are displayed from the start point till the end position to conceal the caption.
