To provide a method and an apparatus for cleaning a turn bar.

The method for cleaning the turn bar comprises the steps of installing a free roll 18 on an axis parallel to the turn bar 12 in an offset rotary press, and impressing a printing web 8 to the roll 18, thereby increasing a wrapping angle of the web to the bar 12. The method further comprises the steps of controlling a contacting and separating motion of the roll 18, isolating the roll 18 from the web 8 at the time of printing, and impressing the roll 18 to the web 8 at the time of cleaning, enlarging a contacting range of the web 8 to the bar 12 at the time of cleaning, and thereby raising the cleaning effect of the bar 12.
