PURPOSE: To continuously package, either by a self adhesive or a non-self adhesive film, a plurality of batches of containers, etc., by welding the film constituting a cover and the film forming the bottom part of a container to be packaged between a batch of containers and the next and by cutting transversely at a position in the welded part.

CONSTITUTION: Two elastic films A and B are unwound from reels 2 and 3, and package a bundle comprising a plurality of containers 4 to form a packaging body. An extruder 6, moving in reciprocating motion interlocked with a supply conveyor 5 for a bundle comprising a plurality of containers 4, packages a plurality of bundles 4 with the plastic films A, B and moves the same to a work zone 7 where the films are welded and cut. The work zone 7 is provided with a down section 12 where a welding and cutting unit 11 is inserted into a plurality of groups 10 comprising pillars, a lifting section 13 where the welding and cutting unit 11 is pulled out from the group 10 and a return section 14 where the welding and cutting unit 11 is forwarded from the lifting section 13 to the down section 12. When the welding and cutting unit 11 goes into the group 10 comprising a plurality of pillars, the same cuts and welds the plastic films A, B rewound from the reels 2, 3 and cover the periphery of the containers 4 bound.
