PURPOSE: To automatically control the opening of a gate, maintain a constant material temperature, and correctly control the motor current in spite of the variation in conditions with the transition from start-up to steady operation.
CONSTITUTION: A kneading machine 1 is so designed that high-polymer material is fed into a kneading chamber 3, and kneaded and pushed by a kneading rotor 4 rotated by a motor 5. A gate 6 for controlling the discharge of material is provided at an intermediate position in the length of the rotor 4. The kneading machine is also provided with a material temperature measuring device 9; gate adjuster 7; motor current detector 13; material feeder 10; and fuzzy controller 16 which is fed with measured values from the temperature measuring device 9 and current detector 13 and feeds output data to the gate adjuster 7 and material feeder 10. The charge and discharge of high-polymer material are controlled based on a fuzzy rule.
