Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling the inner temperature of a thermit melting furnace in which the temperature of an article being melted can be measured directly in a plurality of regions and the inner temperature of a thermit melting furnace can be controlled finely to a level suitable for each region.
SOLUTION: In controlling the inner temperature of a thermit melting furnace 1 comprising a plurality of internal heating means 16, an opening 3 for throwing an article being melted mixed with thermit agent made at an upper part of an inclining bottom face 1a, and a molten slag discharge opening 1b made at a lower part wherein the throw-in region, melting region and discharge region of the article being melted are formed on the bottom face 1a continuously downward from the upper part thereof, infrared energy radiated at least from the melting region and discharge region is detected by an infrared radiation thermometer 17 mounted on the sidewall part 1c facing the bottom face 1a and heating in the furnace is controlled by each heating means 16 such that the melting region and discharge region fall within a specified temperature range based on a detection signal.
