To provide a method and an apparatus, for the discrimination of a color, in which the color of a light transmitting object can be discriminated precisely by a method wherein the light transmitting object can be imaged precisely and a color image of high reliability is obtained.
A color discrimination apparatus is composed of a fluorescent lamp 2. In addition, it is composed of a color CCD camera 3 which images light irradiated from the fluorescent lamp 2. In addition, it is composed of a conveyance device 4 by which a resin bottle 1 is passed one by one in a prescribed posture inside a color extraction region formed in image information obtained by imaging the light irradiated from the fluorescent lamp 2. In addition, it is composed of a color-discrimination processing and control device 5. The resin bottle 1 is passed one by one in the prescribed posture inside the color extraction region formed in the image information obtained by imaging the irradiated light. Image information obtained by imaging light which is transmitted through the resin bottle 1 passed inside the color extraction region is acquired without a break. A color is discriminated about every acquired image information. A color discrimination result is integrated. A discrimination color whose appearance frequency is highest in the integrated discrimination color is specified as the color of the resin bottle 1.
