PURPOSE: To provide a compound that hardens with no heat application by placing an open-ended tube with the open end directed vertically, mixing two components near the open end, filling the tube with this mixture at a first rate and then at a lowered rate and stopping the flow when the mixture level being ultrasonically measured reaches a predetermined level.

CONSTITUTION: Piston pumps 59 and 61 open a metering/distributing valve 37 and force materials in tanks 65 and 67 into a mixing nozzle 38 proportionally where they mix with each other before flowing into a vessel or tube 11. After a timelag preset in a fill controller 15 the material discharge from the tanks 65 and 67 into the tube 11 is reduced. The level of the materials in the tube 11 is sensed by an ultrasonic sensor 53. When a predetermined level is reached, the ultrasonic sensor 53 outputs a stop signal to the fill controller 15 to close the metering/distributing valve 37. This fill cycle is repeated. Hardening materials that can be used include a silicone compound, an epoxy resin, and urethane.
