To provide a method for forming a prismatic container having excellent shape property and uniform thickness of a sidewall part capable of reducing the manufacturing cost by eliminating any annealing process being an intermediate process, and performing the re-drawing and ironing in continuous processes.
In the method for forming the container made of austenitic stainless steel using a punch and a die, the punch is cooled to the temperature of 0-30C, the die and/or a plate holder are heated to the temperature of 60-150C, lubricant is press-fed to a die corner part from a sealed cavity provided inside the die, and a space between the punch and the die of continuous n-processes is set to be 0.8-1.0 tn with respect to the thickness tn of a workpiece after the preprocess. The compressive stress is constantly applied to the thickness direction of the sidewall of the container thereby, and the workpiece is subjected to the re-drawing and ironing continuously for n-processes.
