To provide a method and an apparatus for forming a tube of a reinforced elastomer material capable of obtaining the tube having a desired diameter in a tire drum in which tube both side edges connected to one another of a rubberized flat wire-reinforce sheet material are seamed and the tube is cut in a predetermined length to form the tube from the sheet material.
The method for forming the tube of the reinforced elastomer material comprises the steps of molding the tube from the flat sheet of the wire-reinforced elastomer material having a width equal to an outer periphery of the tube, seaming both the edges of the sheet, cutting the tube to a tubular member having a predetermined strip length, transferring the member to a position on an inner liner, and mounting the member on another tire constituting member. The apparatus for forming the tube comprises a tube forming machine, a tube seaming machine, a cutter, a cylindrical mandrel, an anvil and a transferring mechanism for axially transferring the mandrel by grasping the tubular member.
