PURPOSE: To obtain the method and apparatus for quickly inspecting a glass bottle which can inspect the entire outer surface of the glass bottle in a far shorter time than in the conventional way.

CONSTITUTION: A glass bottle B is rotated at a high speed. The image of the glass bottle B is picked up by using a camera 1 for high-speed moving body from which an electronic shutter function is removed, and the image is processed 6. Since the electronic shutter is not used, a defect 4 of the glass bottle B which is rotating at the high speed is obtained as an after image 5 of the camera 1 in an inspecting area 3. Thus, the quality is judged. Theoretically, the inspection time can be shortened to the input time per one image plane.
