To provide a method and an apparatus automatically removing foreign matter for various sorting objects, and color-sorting.
The method and apparatus remove foreign matter or defective products from sorting objects W. The apparatus stores in advance by a storing means 8, optional regions formed by every wavelength component decided by intensions of R, G, B and other wavelength component of acceptable products, or by combination of part/all of them; irradiates the sequentially sent out sorting objects W with a light source 1; detects passing or reflected light by a detecting means 2; and determines whether the intensions of R, G, B and other wavelength component of the detected light belong to the optional region or not by a determining means 6. When any one of intensions of R, G, B of the passing or reflected light, or of the other wavelength component is determined not belonging to the optional region, the sorting object is separated from others by a separation means 3.
