Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a method for sterilizing various kinds of articles by using the vapor of an isothiocyanic acid ester (ISOTC) and an apparatus for sterilization using ISOTC.
SOLUTION: An article packed with a material having vapor permeability of ISOTC is brought into contact with the vapor of ISOTC. The method comprises a process for introducing ISOTC in a vapor state or a fine particulate state of liquid clroplet into a sterilization chamber to form an atmosphere containing the vapor of ISOTC in the sterilization chamber, a process for sending the article to the sterilization chamber, a process for bringing the article into contact with an atmosphere gas containing ISOTC in the sterilization chamber to sterilize the article, a process for discharging the atmosphere gas in the sterilization chamber after the sterilization and a process for removing the vapor of ISOTC contained in the removed gas.
