Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for efficiently treating hydrogen sulfide which can be widely used industrially without requiring the use of a solution having high acidity.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for treating hydrogen sulfide which comprises: a step of bringing hydrogen sulfide-containing gas into contact with a chelated metal catalyst to generate an aqueous solution containing sulfur and a catalyst which contains sulfur and a reduced chelated metal catalyst; a step of separating the generated sulfur; and a step of subjecting the reduced chelated metal catalyst to electrochemical regeneration treatment and oxidizing the reduced chelated metal catalyst by an oxidation electrode to regenerate into the chelated metal catalyst before reduced and generate hydrogen by a reduction electrode.SELECTED DRAWING: None
