To provide a space-saved type waste water treating method capable of removing highly efficiently SS, BOD, COD, etc., from inflow raw water of the waste water or the like.
Suspended solids of less than 100mg/l in inflow raw water are filtered by a first filter 2 having a filter layer composed of filter media of 5-15mm particle size. The first filter effluent 3 from a first filter 2 is denitrified in a denitrification bath 4a wherein a catalyst carrier T to which denitrifying bacteria or the like are fixed in high concentration is charged in. The denitrification treated water is nitrified in a nitrification bath 4b wherein a catalyst carrier T' to which nitrifying bacteria or the like are fixed in high concentration is charged. An inorganic flocculating agent 8 is mixed in biologically treated water 7 flowing out therefrom and mixed, which is filtered with a second filter 10 having a filter layer 10a composed of the filter media to which many kinds of microorganism are stuck in high concentration. Since removal and decomposition treating capacity of the first and second filters 2, 3 and the biological treating bath 4 are excellent thereby, SS, BOD, COD, etc., can be highly efficiently removed from the waste water irrespective of a space-saved type waste water treating method.
