PURPOSE: To readily apply a constant amount of a bundling oiling agent to a pitch fiber, by atomizing the bundling oiling agent into fine droplets, closely dispersing and applying the atomized oiling agent to a forcibly rotated roller and bringing a spun fiber bundle into contact with the roller.
CONSTITUTION: A bundling oiling agent is initially fed from a tank 12 into two-fluid nozzle 7 and atomized into fine droplets. The resultant oiling agent is then made to collide with the surface of a forcibly rotated roller 3, homogeneously and closely dispersed and adhered thereto. A fiber bundle spun through a spinning nozzle 1 is subsequently brought into contact with the above- mentioned surface of the roller 3 to continuously apply 0.2W10% bundling oiling agent to the spun fiber bundle. Furthermore, the afore-mentioned surface of the roller is preferably subjected to plating treatment with chromium or TiN, etc., to enhance smoothness or a material, such as graphite, BN or Si3N4, is preferably processed and used as the roller itself.
