Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply durable crease to the whole surface of an arbitrary part of a cotton-containing fiber structure by treating the structure with liquid ammonia, applying an aqueous solution of a caustic alkali and subjecting the structure to the creasing work.
SOLUTION: A plain weave cotton fabric is bleached and mercerized by conventional process, treated with liquid ammonia, optionally dyed or printed and wet with an aqueous solution of caustic soda having a concentration of 10-40wt.% at -10 to +90°C, preferably 1.5-30wt.% and 10-40°C with a mangle padder 1. Within 60 sec after the application of the caustic soda solution, the fabric is bundled in the form of a rope with a ring of a creasing machine under the application of a proper tension to crease the fabric. After ≥20sec, the creased fabric is neutralized and washed with water by a water-washing machine 3 to achieve the durable creasing work.
