Title:
METHOD FOR APPLYING PORCELAIN ENAMEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2567156
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce bubbles in the porcelain enamel to smooth its surface and improve the corrosion resistance of the enamel by heating the porcelain enamel formed on the surface of a metallic base material to a temp. higher than the softening point of the enamel and also pressing and cooling the enamel.
CONSTITUTION: An enamel contg. a material which easily releases gas is applied to the surface of a metallic base material (a steel plate such as a stainless or Ti contg. steel plate) and the resultant material is burnt in an atomosphere of air, gaseous nitrogen, gaseous argon or gaseous carbon dioxide, By repeatedly performing this procedure, a glassy, fused and fusion-bonded coating layer (porcelain enamel) is formed on the metallic base material. At the time of repeatedly performing the application of the enamel and the burning treatment, after the burning in an intermediate stage of this process, the porcelain enamel is heated to a temp. at or higher than the softening point of the enamel and pressed and then cooled down to a temp. at or below the softening point of the enamel while maintaining the pressed state. Accordingly, the bubbles 1 in the porcelain enamel are remarkably reduced by making their volume smaller.
