PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically change a printing plate without stopping an operation of a whole machine and adding a specific mechanism.
SOLUTION: A printing unit 11 in a plurality of printing units 11-16 is remained as a new plate of the printing unit, then the other printing units 12-16 are synchronously driven and pressing cylinders of the printing units 12-16 during the synchronously driving are pressed to be operated so that the printing is performed. A plate to be used at the next time is set to the plate cylinder of the remained new printing unit 1j in the stopping condition. At the exchanging of the plate, the speed of the new plate of the printing unit 116 is increased to the driving speed of the units in the synchronously driving and the phase aduustment wherein the rotation phase of the new plate of the printing unit 11 is allowed to be in agreement with the rotation phase of the plate cylinders of the printing units 11 e during the synchronously driving is carried out. After the agreement of the phases is taken, the pressing cylinder of the new plate of the printing unit 11 is pressed to be operated, then the printing is performed. The pressing cylinder of the old plate of the printing unit 122 to be exchanged in the printing units during the synchronously driving is shunted and the synchronou driving of the old plate of the printing unit 12 is stopped.
