PURPOSE: To cake fly ash by subjecting a mixture of 70W85wt.% fly ash and 30W15wt.% sodium hydroxide to a hydrothermal reaction at ≥200°C and ≥100kg/cm2 pressure.
CONSTITUTION: The mixture of 70W85wt.% fly ash as the raw material 2 and 30W15wt.% sodium hydroxide is crushed, and inserted into a reaction vessel 1. A pressure transmitting rod 3, a steam storage 4, and a steam sealing packing 5 are also inserted into the vessel 1. The mixture is subjected to a hydrothermal reaction at ≥200°C and ≥100kg/cm2 pressure. Consequently, the dissolving and ionizing power of water is increased, the reactions through the intervention of ions are activated, and the fly ash is caked due to its own reaction by utilizing the phenomenon. By this method, the solid cake of fly ash can be obtained with a simple method, and the formed cake is physically and chemically stable and is suitable for the final disposal.
