Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a casting method, by which a high toughness Al alloy casting can be obtd.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of casting the high toughness Al alloy casting, an Al alloy base stock containing Al and one or more kinds of alloy elements and also, the ineviatably containing the coarse intermetallic compound accompanied with the increased quantity of be alloy element, is produced. Successively, heating treatment is applied to the Al allot base stock, and a casting material 6 showing half-melted condition, in which the solid phase and the liquid phase coexist, and transforming the coarse intermetallic compound to acicular intermetallic compound from the Al alloy base stock, is produced. Thereafter, the acicular intermetallic compound is crushed on the way of pressurize-forming the Al alloy casting by using the casting material 6 to transform the intermetallic compound to the fine piece intermetallic compound.
