To provide a method for casting an ingot for a bonding wire, which prevents generation of shrinkage cavities, one of casting defects, and hardly causes segregation of components.
An ingot for a bonding wire is manufactured through a lowering step of charging main raw materials such as gold and additive elements into a graphite crucible of a high-frequency induction heating apparatus, melting the raw materials, and moving downward the graphite crucible from a heating space. The lowering step includes lowering operations which are continuously performed at least two times. The procedure of the lowering includes a lowering operation, which is carried out by a constant heating power at a constant lowering speed, and a holding operation carried out after the lowering operation. Further, the lowering speed is preferably 20 mm/min.
