To provide a method of casting ingot that enables inhibiting non-metallic inclusion from entraining in an ingot without applying any special device in casting in a chamber.
The subject method of casting an ingot is a method of casting an ingot adapted for bottom-pouring into an ingot case in a chamber, in which the ingot case has a riser frame formed by fixing a heat insulating material of a given thickness in a stepwise expanded section provided on an inner wall surface of the upper end to cover the inner wall surface of the upper end, and has also a heat-generating, heat-retaining plate containing heat generating metal, mounted in the upper end of the riser frame to lid the upper face of the riser frame. The method of casting ingot includes starting bottom-pouring into the ingot case under a non-oxidizing atmosphere and opening the chamber to the atmosphere to proceed with solidification after processing the bottom pouring until the molten steel reaches the heat-generating, heat-retaining plate.
