PURPOSE: To regenerate a ceramic filter element by cleaning the element with an aq. acid and dipping the element in a weakly alkaline aq. soln. of a hypochlorite detergent or passing the element through the soln. under pressure to surely remove the filter cake accumulated on the element.

CONSTITUTION: A ceramic filter element used in a filter is cleaned and regenerated as follows. Namely, the element is cleaned with an aq. acid and then dipped in a weakly alkaline aq. soln. of a hypochlorite detergent or passed through the soln. under pressure. Consequently, the filter cake is surely removed from the element without damaging the element, and the element is reutilized.
