Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make compensation for a change in the viscosity of a two-component dispensing mechanism by providing the apparatus with a control means for regulating the pressure under which at least either of liquid polymeric materials is supplied to the inlet of the apparatus as a function of the change in the viscosity of the mixture in the apparatus when the material stream passing a dispensing device stops.
CONSTITUTION: The stagnation time of the mixture in the dispensing device 20 is measured by a timer in an electric controller 75. The electric controller 75 processes the signals received from speed changes 16a and 18a, a temperature sensor 96 and an internal timer and determines the adequate degree of the regulation of the pressure in lines 30 and 34 for carrying components A and B by using mathematical expressions or experimentally or empirically determined retrieval charts. The electric controller 75 automatically regulates pressure regulators 54 and/or 54' according to the detected parameters and, therefore, when pressure, under which the components A and B are supplied through the lines 30 and 34 to the dispensing device 20 when the dispensing operation is restarted, is sufficiently increased and the mixture in the dispensing device 20 is extruded outside at a desirable flow rate.
