Abstract:
To provide a method and a lubricant composition for reducing wear in internal combustion engines lubricated with a low phosphorous content lubricating oil.
The lubricating oil composition comprises a synergistic combination comprising a dispersed hydrated alkali metal borate and at least one oil-soluble phosphorus-containing wear-resistant compound, wherein the total phosphorous in the composition is no more than about 0.08 wt.% based on the total weight of the composition.
