Title:
METHOD OF CONSTANT-SPEED CONTROL AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5677532
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To lower the fuel consumption of an engine, employing a system for reducing the number of operative cylinders in achieving stable operation of the engine, so that the engine can be operated at a constant speed with the opening of a throttle valve being kept at a fairly large angle.

CONSTITUTION: A system for constant-speed control of a vehicle shown in the drawing comprises a microcomputor 5, to which are given outputs of a vehicle-speed sensor 1, a cancel switch 2 for cancelling constant-speed control, a brake switch 3, an allowance switch 4 for allowing automatic setting of constant-speed control, etc. This microcomputor 5 functions to control the opening of a throttle valve 12 by a throttle actuator 11 in response to the deviation between a vehicle-speed signal from sensor 1 and a setting vehicle speed, so as to run the vehicle at a constant speed. In the above arrangement, a control circuit 8 for reducing the number of operative cylinders is interposed between a fuel injection controlling circuit 7 and an injection valve driving circuit 9. With such an arrangement, the system is operated to reduce the number of operative cylinders and to increase the opening of the throttle valve when the vehicle is run at a constant speed higher than a certain level continuously for a time period longer than a predetermined while.
