Title:
METHOD OF CONTINUOUSLY CUTTING PLURAL PIECES OFF CONTINUOUSLY MOVING ENDLESS MATERIAL, AND SYSTEM OF IMPLEMENTING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3640206
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method and system of continuously cutting pieces or portions off a continuously moving endless material with accuracy within 1/100 mm.
SOLUTION: For shortening the processing time of known systems of sequentially cutting a plurality of pieces or portions off a continuously moving endless material such as a glass strip, via flying cutting, a cutting bridge with a cutter 6 is accelerated to a speed within a given tolerance of the feed speed of the continuously running endless material. The cutting speed is next synchronized with the speed of each piece or portion to be cut off, after which synchronization each piece or portion is cut off. For extremely high-accuracy cutting, an image pickup device 7 measures the space from the cutter to the cut edge formed when the preceding piece or portion is cut off, before cutting the next piece or portion off. The measured space is compared with a set space value, and in dependence upon this comparison, the speed of the cutting bridge is synchronized or fine-adjusted before cutting the next piece or portion off.
