Abstract:

PURPOSE: To feed hot air at a high temp. with an inexpensive apparatus in a method for continuously feeding hot air to a metallurgical furnace with a recupertor as a heat exchanger by combining a large recuperator for lower temp. with a small recuperator for higher temp., mixing hot air from the large recuperator with hot air from the small recuperator, and sending the mixed air.

CONSTITUTION: A recuperator 1b of a small capacity for sending air at a higher temp. is combined with a recuperator 1a of a large capacity for sending air at a lower temp. The heating part of the recuperator 1b is made of a special ferroalloy or ceramics, and air is sent from the recuperator 1b at a temp. Tb by a quantity Qb. The heating part of the recuperator 1a is made of an inexpensive ordinary ferroalloy. The recuperators 1b, 1a are operated in parallel so that air is sent at a temp. Ta by a quantity Qa. Hot air from the recuperator 1b is mixed with hot air from the recuperator 1a, and the mixed air is sent.
