PURPOSE: To enable selective control of inorg. network formation by adding a photoinitiator changeable the pH of a medium on light irradiation to a sol consisting of a compsn. contg. a hydrolyzable group and constituting ceramics with a no-polymerizable group-contg. org. silicon compd. and irradiating the compd. with radiations.
CONSTITUTION: The sol consisting of the org. silicon compd. expressed the hydrolyzable and polycondensable A) R4-xSiR1X (R is a group which can be dissociated from an Si atom by hydrolysis, for example, H, halogen, alkoxy, etc.; R1 is a nonpolymerizable org. group which is not dissociated from Si by hydrolysis, for example, alkyl, phenyl. x is 1 to 3) and B) the compd. (e.g.; the compd. of Si, Al, B, Pb, Sn, Ti, Zn, Zr, etc.), of the glass or ceramic constituting elements is crosslinked by irradiation with radiation, such as UV rays, in the presence of the photoinitiator (e.g.; 1-hydroxycyclohexylphenylketone) changeable the pH of the reaction medium by the light irradiation and having an absorption wavelength region of 190 to 360 nm, by which the inorg. network is formed.
