Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reductions in NOx and in fuel consumption by varying the shape of the cam of an injection pump and oil feed rate both in two steps.
SOLUTION: This variable-prestroke fuel injection device 1 is used which has a concave cam 9 built in, by which a fuel feed rate corresponding to cam angle is made into an oil-feed-rate waveform having a first-step rising part E1, a second-step rising part E2 where it rises sharply, a flat part E3 where it becomes flat, and a falling part E4 where it falls sharply. At least when the operating condition of an engine is in medium to high rev ranges, the second-step rising part E2 of the fuel feed rate just before the flat part E3 is set as fuel injection timing e1, and an injection completion timing e2 is set on the flat part E3 to drive a fuel injection device 1. Thereby an initial injection ratio is reduced to restrain generation of NOx and to hold a high oil feed rate at the rear stage to prevent decrease in fuel consumption.
