Abstract:
PURPOSE: To allow a group 3 facsimile equipment(FAX) to originate proper call by sending a call setting message SETUP obtained by setting up specific data in a 'transmission capacity' information element and a 'higher layer consistency' information element.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of starting manual transmitting operation, a CODEC 14 is connected to a handset 17 by a switching circuit 16 and then a user is allowed to input a number. Then data expressing '3.1KHz audio' are set up in the 'transmission capacity' information element in the call setting message SETUP, data expressing 'group 2/group 3 FAX' are set up in the 'higher layer consistency' information element, and then the message SETUP is sent to an ISDN to call the specified destination. When an information channel is set up between the self-terminal and the other party terminal after executing a prescribed call setting procedure, communication is executed between the self-terminal user and a user of the other party terminal.
