Title:
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING LONG-HORNED BEETLES USING CULTURE OF NATURAL ENEMY MOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04202104
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent long-horned beetles by subjecting the trunk or branch part of a tree to treatment such as cutting, scarifying or barking, and arranging a culture of a proliferated natural enemy mold such as Beauveria tenella in the form of a band or a sheet near the treated parts.

CONSTITUTION: The trunk or branch part of a tree is subjected to treatment such as cutting, scarifying or barking to attract long-horned beetles and a proliferated culture of a natural enemy mold (e.g. Beauveria tenella) in a culture substrate is arranged in the form of a band or a sheet near the aforementioned treated parts and/or their surrounding parts. Thereby, the long-horned beetles are controlled. Culture substrates prepared by including culture medium ingredients such as a carbon source, a nitrogen source and inorganic salts in a carrier such as an expanded matrix, a nonwoven fabric or a woven fabric using a means such as coating or dipping are used as the culture substrate. Thereby, the long-horned beetles can more simply and surely be controlled with high safety for silkworms.
