In such a case, cooling gas is supplied into the throat part 3 and also, while supplying the air for secondary combustion into the furnace body 4 the temp. and oxygen concn. in the throat part 3 are detected. The supplying quantity of the cooling gas and the supplying quantity of the air for secondary combustion are controlled, respectively so that the detected temp. and oxygen concn. become a prescribed value.
