To provide the control method of rolling equipment with which the effect of the thickness control in a rolling mill is maximized in the stable range of automatic gage control.
This equipment is the rolling mill which is composed of the main body of the rolling mill and reels on the inlet and outlet sides and rolling equipment to which an inlet-side tension control for controlling the tension between the inlet-side reel and the main body of the rolling mill and automatic gage control for controlling the thickness on the outlet side of the rolling mill are applied. The control gain of the automatic gage control is set (201), the control gain of an inlet-side tension control system is calculated (202), consistency is checked by comparing both the above control gains (203) and the control gain of the inlet-side tension control system is adjusted so that the effect of the thickness control is maximized in the stable range of the automatic gage control (206). The stability of the inlet-side tension control is checked (204) and, when the stability is not attained, the control gain of the automatic gage control is changed (207).
