Title:
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING STRUCTURAL STABILITY OF COLLAGEN FIBER PREPARED FROM SOLUTION OR DISPERSION TREATED WITH SODIUM HYDROXIDE FOR INACTIVATION OF INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH08169848
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize collagen fibers in a dispersion formed from a collagen solution or dispersion treated with sodium hydroxide so as to deactivate an infectious substance. SOLUTION: This stabilized dispersion is prepared from a solution, dispersion or suspension of collagen fibers treated with a chemical reagent (e.g. NaOH) so as to deactivate an infectious disease. The dispersion is obtained by a physical fiber stabilizer containing such a kind of a polymer material as to precipitate collagen fibers from a solution at a sufficient concentration. The preferable polymer properties are water-soluble or water-miscible and, for example, a polyethylene glycol may be cited as the polymer. A dispersion is also prepared by using a chemical fiber stabilizer for stabilizing fibers by cross-linking the fibers. A preferable method for stabilizing the collagen fibers is to use a stabilizer after the treatment.
