Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable the transmitter of an electronic mail to confirm transmission of many electronic mail objects by generating a confirmation log including respective stored copies of designated electronic mail objects and monitoring transmitted electronic mail objects and transmitting the stored copy later in the case of a failure of delivery. CONSTITUTION: The confirmation log (progress record) is used which is generated to store copies of objects required for settlement of delivery of electronic mail objects designated by the transmitter. Plural descriptive elements are recorded also in the confirmation log in relation to respective electronic mail objects, and its state is periodically monitored after transmission of each electronic mail object, and it is discriminated whether delivery has been successful or not. Stored copies of electronic mail objects are transmitted again if delivery failed in a selected period. Thus, parameter or syntactical retrieval covering all pending electronic mail objects can be easily and efficiently achieved.
