Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a method for controlling working conditions in a continuous skull nozzle process.
CONSTITUTION: One or more process parameters are controlled to maintain an operation of the process in a process window found by using an integrating method and expressed regarding a nondimensional parameter. The process window specifies a range of a value maintained at a steady solidifying layer 22 therein and not maintained at the layer 22 externally. One of the parameters controlled to maintain the operation of the process in the window by regulating a discharging flow rate of a molten liquid 24 is a differential pressure between the interior of a crucible 12 containing the liquid 24 and the exterior of the crucible 12.
