Abstract:
To provide a method of converting a combustible or flame retardant substrate or part into a non-combustible substrate or part.SOLUTION: A second organic compound having a boiling point lower than the thermal decomposition temperature of a metal compound and a viscosity of 4 to 7 mPa s at 20°C is dissolved in a first organic compound having a viscosity of less than 1 mPa s at 20°C, so that the viscosity at 20°C becomes lower than 2 mPa sec, and mix a pre-prepared group of crushed metal compound crystals to form a paste. A flammable or flame-retardant substrate or component is immersed in the paste, then, the temperature of the substrate or component is increased to pyrolyze the aggregates of crushed metal compound crystals. As a result, the entire surface of the substrate or part is covered with an airtight coating consisting of an aggregate of metal nanoparticles in which the aggregate of metal bonded metallic nanoparticles is laminated, and the substrate or part is made nonflammable.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
