To provide a method for cutting the edge part of a booklet which gives good appearance and hand touch and can solve a trouble of an instrument such as an ATM caused by generation of a paper powder and a step difference of a cut part by providing no possibility of sticking the paper powder on the neighborhood of a cut edge of the booklet, making the cut surface clean, and forming no step difference on the cut part, when the booklet is cut.

In the method for cutting the edge part of the booklet which cuts the booklet into a specified dimension by a laser beam, cutting a connection between the edge part connected with the spine of the booklet and the edge part of the fore-edge by a corner rounded with a central angle of ≤90° is performed by a cutting process cutting from the fore-edge side to the spine side or from the spine side to the fore-edge side, and a cutting process cutting into a corner rounded by drawing a circular arc from the beginning end part on the spine side of the corner rounded and successively cutting the edge part of the fore-edge side.
