Abstract:
To provide a method for decarbonizing Cr molten metal, capable of reducing Cr oxidization loss, and a method for manufacturing Cr containing steel.SOLUTION: A method for decarbonizing Cr containing molten metal using an electric furnace comprises: inserting or throwing and dissolving high carbon ferro-chrome having Cr:55 to 70% and C:4 to 9% on a mass standard into the electric furnace; and setting a decarbonization start temperature Ts to 1535°C or more. A method for decarbonizing the Cr containing molten metal using the electric furnace comprises: calculating a preferential decarbonization temperature Tc(°C) in a Cr concentration [%Cr]=5 to 70 in molten metal and a C concentration [%C]=1 to 10 in the molten metal on a mass standard by the following formula (1); and controlling the decarbonization start temperature Ts(°C) of the Cr containing molten metal to a temperature equal to or more than the preferential decarbonization temperature Tc to start decarbonization. A method for manufacturing Cr containing steel comprises: diluting nor diluting Cr containing molten metal with molten iron to perform finish decarbonization; and controlling a component to perform casting.
